Questions

I recently have been asked the same couple of questions by several different people. That is more than just a coincidence so I am sure there are others wondering the same thing, so I decided to post and answer those questions here.

Question 1: How do you keep from eating carbs, don't you miss them?

To be quite honest, I do NOT miss them. I know what I need to do to be successful. I made a commitment to myself when I started this journey and it is one that I fully intend to keep. Food is an addiction, no different than those who are addicted to alcohol, drugs, gambling, etc. There is one difference in that you need food to live, but not in the way I used it before. Food was my friend -- the friend I turned to when I was sad, angry, mad, etc. I finally realized I was not using that friend in the way I should have and that type of friend will not be back in my life. I am conscious every time I put something in my mouth of what it is, but I am not obsessed with it either. Overcoming my food addiction means I have to always work at it, no different than those who continually work at alcoholism. I still like food. I have it a little easier because my stomach won't let me eat a lot, but I could still eat the wrong things. I won't because I have made the decision to be successful. My health and happiness is more important to me than any carb!

Question 2: When you see overweight people now do you try to talk to them about surgery?

NO! I am more than happy to answer any questions if they are asked of me, but everyone needs to make the decision for themselves. Surgery is not for everyone. Just as an alcoholic will always be an alcoholic even if not drinking, I will always be a foodaholic. I know what it feels like to be overweight and the prejudice that goes along with it.

Are there other questions you have? Leave a comment and I will gladly answer.
