Visit With Hematologist

I met with Dr Comp today. He asked about the boys and what they were up to these days and then we talked about me. He was very supportive of my surgery decision and said that my factor IX deficiency is mild enough that there is no reason I can not be brought up to 90% with a factor infusion and then be treated like any other "normal" patient. I will also have to be treated with factor daily for 5 days after surgery. He will follow the lab results to make sure my level stays up, which was one of Dr Walton's biggest concerns. He stated he would call Dr Walton and give him his blessing to proceed! I walked out of his office with a prescription for the factor in hand. I faxed it to Hemophilia Health Services as soon as I got back to the office. They called me and said my factor will arrive on Tuesday.
Prayers worked, but don't stop yet -- I meet with Dr Walton in the morning. I also have a follow up visit with the Dietitian and Exercise Physiologist.
