One day last week I was invited at the last minute to dinner with one of our referring doctors at work. Our business casual attire includes jeans, unless we are meeting with clients. I happened to wear regular business clothes that day so I accepted the invitation. I had not seen this doctor in a few months. Dinner was at Opus Prime Steakhouse.
A couple of us were standing at the bar waiting for the doctor to arrive. When he did his first comment was, "Nancy do not lose any more weight!" I assured him that I was not.
That one comment though really hit me. You see, this is a doctor who treats the sickest of our patients. On a daily basis he is counseling patients on weight loss and normalizing BMI. For this man to make that comment to me and to be happy with my BMI even though it is not considered normal really means a lot to me.
I will continue to watch the scale as I am fanatical about not gaining, but I no longer will watch for more loss. If it happens, great, but I don't need it!
