Note To Self ...

... Put gloves back in coat pocket!

I woke up to a notice that our school, and all the other districts, were closed today. We looked outside -- DRY! Unfortunately, it did not stay that way. It started to drizzle on the way to work. I made my normal stop to get coffee about a mile from my office and it still was only slightly raining at that point. By the time I got to the office that small amount of rain was ice on my side view mirrors. It continued to rain at different rates and the temperature continued to drop. We were monitoring the conditions throughout the day and the other manager and I left most of the staff go home by noon. With reports that the icy rain and sleet was going to continue through 10 PM before changing to snow and a high risk of power outages, we received permission to close early and did so at 3 PM. The pharmacy manager cut cardboard boxes to cover our windshields first thing in the morning, but there were still the side and back windows to clear. When I went out to start the van the rain had turned to sleet and the ice on the uncovered windows was at least an inch thick! When it had warmed up enough to be able to scrape the windows I went out only to discover I did not have my gloves in my pocket! By the time I got done I could not feel my hands and had to warm them in front of the vent before I could drive!

The ice and sleet has stopped sooner than expected but it is very cold out. They are still predicting snow off and on for tomorrow but in smaller amounts than previously predicted. There are power outages that they expect to increase, but so far so good here.

As of right now I plan to be at work tomorrow but probably will not go in quite as early. Schools are already closed again tomorrow. But for tonight I am staying under my heated throw!
