I had planned to make a big pot of chili tonight since it is cold out again (after hitting 76 yesterday!), but Chuck had to go help Eric move a hot tub and Loren and Stephen went out to use one of their restaurant gift cards they received for Christmas. There was no sense making that big pot of chili tonight so I took the girls and Ryan to IHOP. I ordered the ultimate bacon omelet and an extra stack of pancakes for everyone to share. We were all full and STILL did not finish it all!
Speaking of full, I don't know that I ever mentioned how I can tell that I am full. Most of the time I will hiccup and that is the signal not to take one more bite. Other times my nose will run or I will start sneezing. One more bite after that and I am very uncomfortable or it does not stay down. Most everyone else reports the same experience and at one time there was an article posted that explains this phenomenon -- there is a nerve that runs behind the stomach that controls these functions and it is manipulated during surgery. Being over full is a worse feeling than it ever was before so it is nice to have that sign to warn you not to get to that point. Chuck jokes about it when he hiccups then keeps eating but most likely he really is full at that hiccup and should stop too! Pressure on the nerve from an over extended stomach can do the same thing.
