An Interesting Comment

You may remember that I was chosen to be a parent/nurse counselor at Camp Classen with the Eastlake sixth graders this year. That camp is coming up on September 14Th trough the 18Th. We had a camp counselor meeting at the school the other evening. The camp director was reviewing all the camp rules and then briefly went over all the activities we will be participating in. At the end she looked around and said she did not see anyone who may be challenged by the physical activities involved. I smiled to myself because had I been at the same meeting 14 months ago I would have been the one standing out in the crowd as not being able to handle it. It felt really good to feel a part of the "normal" group and no one knew any different. As it is, only Giorgi and the Principal (who will be at camp but was not at the meeting) know my story. Maybe they will figure it out once they see me eating at camp, but I am hoping that now that I can eat more normally that they won't figure it out then either. My plan was to bring some protein bars in the event that the food was not something on my allowed list, but I have decided not to do that. A few carbs won't kill me and I want to enjoy the new normal and continue to blend in. I can't wait to see how that plays out!
